IGNOU Regional Centre, Patna came into existence in 4th May, 1991 with the jurisdiction over entire undivided state of Bihar with 07 Study Centres. After the division of the state into Bihar and Jharkhand and on establishment of Regional Centre at Ranchi, there were 33 Study Centres; 13 learner centres located at Jharkhand were attached to the Ranchi Regional Centre and remaining 20 were attached to Bihar.
